The activities are governed by a political committee with 11 members: The labour market and adult education committee. We offer a set of activities for adult education and provide various support functions for lifelong learning.

Our mission is to work for:

 • more young people get a foothold in the labour market or acquire education
• the most excluded from the labour market get support and help to reach the personal development they need in order to move towards their own self-sufficiency
• there are strategic vocational training courses which are linked to the local growth program, the demands of working life and a wide range of university education
• the resources that immigrants and refugees represent, are taken care of and integrated in order to contribute to increased diversity and growth within the municipality.

We make people ready for the future

We offer a support structure for lifelong learning to the individual using flexible forms of educational- and social activities, which are based on the needs of the labour market, the society and the wishes of the individual.

We offer guidance, education and practical training in order to help individuals to find possibilities to development, work and their own self-sufficiency as an employee or as entrepreneurs. This is done in co-ordination with other administrations within the municipality and other authorities and actors within the working life.
 
New residents in Piteå with foreign background are offered Swedish for immigrants and practical training.

With the participation to a number of collaborative projects an international network of contacts has been created within the EU.
