The official drag racing competitions are held on July 11–12 and July 17–18, with full power on Sweden's northernmost track and racing in the absolute top class.
The days in between offer varied activities, social events and motorsport in various forms – a week that is as much a festival as a competition.
Wednesday 15/7 is a rest day – no activities are arranged, so our officials get a well-deserved recovery before the final days.
Midnight Race Week is about more than racing. It's long bright evenings, engine sounds echoing in the forest, community in the pit and the feeling of being part of something truly special – in the far north.

At Pite Dragway in Långnäs, just outside Piteå, it's time for this year's big drag racing competition again. At Pite Dragway, drag racing competitions organized by SHRA Luleå have been held for 50 years. What kind of motorsport is drag racing, you might wonder? Drag racing is the world's fastest motorsport where two cars, motorcycles or snowmobiles compete against each other to see who can drive the 402.3 meters of the track in the best time.
Pite Dragway is known for being one of the country's best tracks, and in recent years a lot of improvements have been made that have resulted in it becoming a very audience-friendly arena. From the raised, more than 200-meter-long grandstand, you can follow the racing cars as they rush down the track. If you want to stretch your legs, you can walk around the pit behind the starting area and look at all the well-built cars and motorcycles while the teams are working on them between races. Pite Dragway is now an established track throughout Europe.

Bludderblad is a performance for younger children that, through dance, music and objects from the forest, ponders how we view what is around us. A subtle text by children's book author Eva Lindström sparks the imagination.
In the performance, the children meet a multitude of sticks, Bludderblads – one small, one thin, one with only a head, one with several legs, one who is scared behind the tree. Who are they and where are they going?
Percussionist Magdalena creates music with stones in harmony with acoustic instruments and dancer Oskar keeps track of all the Bludderblads and guides the children into the world of dance.
A performance that encourages creativity.

Award-winning with Norway's equivalent of a Grammis and known for pushing musical boundaries, Marja brings her South Sami heritage and yoik tradition with her – and now gets to meet the powerful sound of the big band. That she is now collaborating with the Norrbotten Big Band is no surprise, the band has long wanted to push its own traditions.
Born in Engerdal, South Sami, Marja has always been passionate about preserving her heritage and language. She has dug into archives, interviewed yoikers and collaborated with, among others, Mari Boine and Sofia Jannok. Ole Jörn Myklebust, who has previously had success with big band and yoik, is in charge of the arrangements. It will be an exciting meeting between tradition and the present, where Marja's voice and the big band's sound create something completely unique.
