Parks in Piteå; Stadsparken
In the town center, by the canal and the hostel, you’ll find this park. Here you can sit by the gently bubbling fountain and enjoy the beautiful perennial plantings, or stroll through the themed gardens and find inspiration for your own garden. The city park is located in central Piteå by the Strömsund Canal. The park is part of the green belt that stretches from Fårö Bridge to Västra Kajen along the city’s waterfront.
A long history
The city park has a long history—it was established as early as 1859. The first trees were planted by telegraph commissioner Lars Adam Ringius, a man with a deep passion for gardening who wanted to beautify Piteå. Ringius planted, among other things, Swiss pine, white spruce, poplar, and larch in the park, which were bold choices at the time.
Room for perennials
In 1999, parts of the park were modernized. Old, worn-out trees were felled and replaced with new ones. A მშვიდ (peaceful) environment with seating areas was created around the circular pond with a fountain. Large perennial plantings surround the fountain. This is a lovely place for relaxation where you can find inspiration for your own perennial beds.
The themed gardens
Thanks to sponsors, it became possible in 2013 to build seven themed gardens in the city park. By showcasing different styles and products, we hope to inspire and perhaps open visitors’ eyes to new possibilities.
Thanks to these sponsors, both residents of Piteå and visitors can find ideas here for their own outdoor spaces.
Here you’ll find information about the themed gardens. By presenting different styles and products within these garden spaces, we aim to inspire visitors’ own gardens and open their eyes to new possibilities.
