Havsbadsleden - bike trail
Havsbadsleden begins at Rådhustorget and follows Storgatan to Trädgårdsgatan.
The route continues along Trädgårdsgatan, crossing the far bridge over the Strömsund Canal towards the residential areas of Strömsborg and Klubbgärdet. The trail then passes through Furunäset and the old hospital located along the water. From Furunäset, the path continues along Munksundsvägen, past Munksund swimming hall and later past the SCA paper mill, through Skuthamn, and onto Gamla Havsbadsvägen, known locally in Piteå as the “Gold Coast.”
The cycling trail continues all the way into the Pite Havsbad area, where it ends. If you don’t turn off toward Havsbadet and keep following the road, you will reach one of the old ferry landings below the Pitsund Bridge, where the Pite River flows into the sea.
The rusting jetties are a reminder of the time before the bridge was built, when the strait could only be crossed by water. If you’re lucky, you might see the bridge open to let through one of the thousands-of-tons ships transporting pulp to the paper mill further up the river.
Length: approx. 11.6 km
The trail follows pedestrian and cycling paths and some mixed-traffic areas.
