Village to Village: Routes

Arnemark - Sikfors (6 KM)

The blue section of the Solander Trail goes through forests, over meadows and along the banks of the Pite River between the villages. A marked detour from the trail goes on a suspension bridge over the river and to the leisure village on the outskirts of Sikfors and from there it is only a few hundred meters to the village center. If you don't want to walk over the suspension bridge, you can continue upstream and cross the river at the power plant dam. The old power station that the trail passes further downstream is one of Piteå's architectural monuments. In Arnemark there is a swimming area next to the trail. In Sikfors there is a grocery store and Sikfors Konferens & Fritidsby is happy to let hikers fill their water bottles. There is also a restaurant with a grill and lunch service, a mini golf course and a pool.

Böle - Pålberget (8 KM)

The blue section of the Solander Trail follows the banks of the Pite River between the villages. Along the river banks are remains from the rafting era in the form of piles, stone coffins and more. If you are lucky, you will see beavers in the water and there are plenty of beaver-gnawed trees on land. The trail does not go up into the village of Pålberget itself, but you can follow a marked detour up to the thoroughfare Älvsbyvägen (road 984) and further up to the Stormyrberget viewpoint mountain with a bivouac and fireplace at the top.

Jävre- Hemmingsmark (22 KM)

The red section of the Solanderleden goes through forests and over marshlands between the villages. In Jävre there are many attractions, including the lighthouse, the mill and the old mill and the listed Tourist Station from the sixties. Along the trail is the fishing lake Korpträsket with an overnight cabin that can be rented through the fishing association and just outside Hemmingsmark there is a bird lake, Hemträsket, with a lookout tower. In Jävre there is a grocery store and restaurant as well as a summer café both in the old mill and in the harbour area by the lighthouse.

Svensbyn- Roknäs (18 KM)

The green and yellow section of the Solanderleden goes all the way between the villages, past fishing lakes lined with fireplaces, meadows with grazing sheep and berry-rich forests. It also passes the popular local area of Swensbylijda and the swimming area in Lidträsket. In the Svensbyskogarna there is the possibility of shortening the distance by about 6.5 km by hiking a section along the Eliasleden on the north side of Kocksjön and then connecting to the Solanderleden again. The section over Römyrberget is very steep and uneven in places. In Roknäs you can take the opportunity to follow the trail down to the swimming area Sandön in Sjulnäs and the summer café there. At Swensbylijda there is a summer café and sauna for rent, in Roknäs there is both a grocery store, a petrol station and a restaurant.

The waves of the former Arctic Ocean washed over the Pite area but never reached Kalahatten, which is a so-called calotte mountain. The layer of moraine on the top of the mountain managed to avoid being washed away and today a forest grows there. Below the peak are cold-washed cliffs and pebble fields that the waves of the sea washed out thousands of years ago. On Tuesday evenings during the summer, waffles are served at the top.
