Just 4 km from central Piteå, Fårön offers a beautiful outdoor recreation area with nature trails and rest areas set in varied and exciting landscapes. You can hike up to about 3 km. The first 300 meters feature wide, well-built boardwalks, making it suitable for wheelchair users, strollers, and walkers.
Along the trail, there are several barbecue spots, including at Kalkgrundsviken and on Lilla Fåröberget. Information signs provide details about the island’s different habitats and birdlife.
Fårön is also home to Fårön Cottage Village and a beautiful, well-maintained allotment area. The cottage village, with its quiet surroundings, large grassy areas, and on-site pool, combined with its proximity to the city center, makes it a popular holiday destination. The allotment area, with its 38 plots, is a charming idyll filled with lush plants, quaint cottages, and gardens tended by local enthusiasts.
