Gläntjätten (Giant's) Path
Welcome to hike the Gläntjätten path that takes you around the Sandängesstranden nature reserve. There is much to discover here; the long sandy beaches, the large open sand, the old pine forest, strange insects, exciting plants and geological phenomena. Follow the red markings on poles and trees. Scan the QR codes along the trail and learn more about nature in the area.

The name of the hiking trail comes from the legend of the Gläntjätten. The giant was a big and strong man, a great swimmer and had a huge appetite. You can read more about the Gläntjätten along the trail. The trail is an easy walking experience along the beach, through forest and across the open landscape. Feel free to bring a packed lunch for a coffee break by one of the fireplaces, where there is wood, benches and tables.

Walking the marked hiking trail takes one or two hours. You can walk the circular loop past the Gläntan building into the wild coastal forest, to the ancient pine forest, across the open sandy beach and back, approx. 3.5 km. Another option is to follow the trail along the beach out to the Club's beautiful nature and back, approx. 3.2 km. You can also combine these trails, about 5.5 km.

The hiking trail is marked in the forest with red rings on trees. Over open ground, the trail is marked with low posts with red tape. At numbered posts along the trail, you can learn more about how the forces of nature have created Sandängesstranden and how history has left traces that we can still see today. A sign on the post tells you briefly about what is worth seeing in that particular place. If you scan the QR code on the post, you will get to in-depth information and maps that tell you more and guide you along the nature walk.

Much of the iformation on site and on the link to the map is in Swedish.
