You don’t have to carry cash in Sweden. Most places, including small shops, cafes, taxis, and even public transport, accept cards (credit/debit, contactless, or mobile payment like Apple Pay or Google Pay). Sweden is very card-friendly and is moving toward a mostly cashless society.

However, some very small vendors, rural markets, or older establishments might prefer cash, so having a small amount (~200–500 SEK) can be handy. ATMs are widely available, so you can withdraw cash if needed.
