About the Ice Track

The ice track starts below the boule court at Norrstrand. Its exact route varies from year to year depending on ice conditions. On Saturdays and Sundays in late winter, the café at the starting point on Norrstrand is usually open. Here you can rent long-distance skates and buy refreshments.

Borrow a kicksled

At the kicksled stations on Norrstrand and Svartudden/Strömbacka beach, you can borrow a kicksled. Please return it to the station after your trip on the ice. We kindly ask you not to leave kicksleds on the ice, as they may freeze in place. The track is on sea ice, which means there are cracks and uneven surfaces you need to watch out for. All skating is at your own risk.

Ice thickness

We continuously check the thickness and quality of the ice along the marked track to ensure it is safe for walkers, skaters, kicksled users, and cyclists. Please respect that motor vehicles are not allowed on the track. We want to emphasize that the ice thickness we report only applies to the track on Nördfjärden. Ice thickness can vary greatly depending on factors such as currents.
