Norrbotten Big Band meets Edvin Ekman & Karolina Almgren

When Norrbotten Big Band invites two of jazz's most promising stars, the result is a double production with twice as much imagination, color and musical joy. Here, the jazz voices of the future meet in a big band setting.

 

Norrbotten Big Band presents a double production where two young and acclaimed jazz profiles take center stage. In one set, we hear newly written music by composer and saxophonist Karolina Almgren, upcoming residency fellow at Studio Acusticum. In the next set, Edvin Ekman takes over with completely newly written music for the concert, after his victory in the Jazz Wind Music Award earlier this year.

 

Both musicians have previously collaborated with Norrbotten Big Band, and are now looking forward to developing their ideas together with the band. Norrbotten Big Band's artistic director Joakim Milder is also enthusiastic:

 

- This will be great fun. It is part of our mission to seek out and initiate collaborations with those who have a future ahead of them. Both of these fantastic musicians have that. It will be an evening of colorful, imaginative and generously open contemporary jazz, says Joakim Milder.
