Jacob Mann – Composer in Residence
When a Los Angeles-based multi-talent lands in Norrbotten, anything can happen. In 2026, Jacob Mann will take over as Composer in Residence – ready to fill the big band scene with fresh, imaginative music.
Every year, the Norrbotten Big Band invites a Composer in Residence – a guest composer who gets to work closely with the band’s musicians, rehearse together and create completely new music during the year. This year, they welcome composer, arranger and pianist Jacob Mann, born in Las Vegas but who moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18. There he works as a pianist, composer and arranger and has released three albums with his Jacob Mann Big Band, where he has collaborated with, among others, Sam Wilkes, KNOWER, Peter Erskine, Michael Mayo and Catpack.
– It has always been a dream of mine to write original music for a European big band, so I was overjoyed when the question came, says Jacob Mann, who never hesitated when he was asked to become Composer in Residence.
Artistic director Joakim Milder is also looking forward to the collaboration and believes that Mann's fresh and safe music will be a strong addition to NBB's upcoming season.
The concert is part of Jazzfeeling 2026.
