Yusuf Suleiman is a Uyghur singer and musician who specializes in traditional Uyghur folk music.

After being subjected to threats and harassment in both China and Turkey, he came to Piteå in 2023 as a sanctuary artist and is now free to continue his music creation. With him on stage is the band Dotar, which consists of Tommy Skotte-double bass, Tommy Lakso-acoustic guitar and guitar and Erik Malm-percussion.

The event is part of the sanctuary week, which marks Piteå's 10th anniversary as a member of ICORN - the international network of sanctuary cities. During the anniversary week, freedom of expression, artistic freedom and courage are highlighted through conversations, music, art and meetings at Kaleido.
