A Brief History
The building was completed in 1893, designed by the renowned architect Axel Kumlien. Originally built as a hospital, the site was chosen for its central location, good transport links, fertile surroundings, and access to fresh water.
In 1987, the property was transformed into today’s modern hotel and conference center, while preserving its unique character and peaceful setting.
Furunäset’s history spans both light and dark chapters — from its time as a psychiatric hospital (1893–1994) to its present role as a vibrant meeting place where history and modern life meet.
