The Community
Despite being a small village, there are excellent opportunities for a wonderful life in Hortlax. You have access to preschools, schools from primary to high school, elderly care facilities, a medical centre with a pharmacy, and a child health centre. For families with children, Hortlax is a quiet and safe community with ample stimulation for the kids. You have a nearby grocery store, ICA nära Lundmans. There is also a very nice and cozy flower shop called Maggans Djungelkiosk. If you're in the mood for pizza, you can visit the restaurant Marco Polo. Public transportation to Hortlax is very active, and you can easily take the bus from Hortlax to the city centre and vice versa.

Activities & Leisure
There are plenty of leisure activities to suit everyone's interests in Hortlax. You have a library, a church, and an EFS prayer house, a karate club, scouts, and choirs for both adults and children. For sports enthusiasts, there is a sports and swimming hall, an ice rink, and for those especially interested in football, there's a dedicated football class for grades 7-9. Hortlax is well-known as a church village, actually the youngest one in Sweden with an architecturally designed beautiful church. The church is located in a forest glade on a hill with a nearby church town from the 1920's. The church was inaugurated in 1917 and has been a significant part of Piteå since then. Next to the church, you'll also find a cemetery. There's plenty of forest in the Hortlax area! You can practically go in any direction and find a forest with a lovely environment. There are also nice walking paths with a beautiful view of the village.

Celebrities connected to Hortlax
You might not believe it, but there are actually quite a few celebrities who either grew up in Hortlax or lived there for part of their lives. Of course, there is a reason for that – why wouldn't one want to live in wonderful Hortlax? The famous ice hockey player Lars Lindgren, who played in the NHL, was born and raised in Hortlax. Mikael Renberg, the professional ice hockey player, has also lived in Hortlax. Ice hockey players seem to thrive in Hortlax, as there is another one who lived there, namely Tomas Holmström, who played in the NHL. Lastly, we have the famous Hollywood wife Åsa Vesterlund, who lived there as a young person and even attended Hortlax high school! In summary, Hortlax is a familial and charming village with a delightful sense of community, a safe environment, and the perfect place for a child to grow up! There's not a single reason not to settle down in Hortlax!
